Hengrave and Flempton are blessed to have so many beautiful thatched buildings, we even have a thatched bus stop. Every so often, the thatch needs to be combed, cleaned and rewired and the ridges restored. The Hengrave bus stop was looking a little bit sad so the Parish Council added it to its list of community restoration projects for 2025. Austen Byford, a local Master Thatcher who has renovated a number of thatched properties in the parish, was appointed for this particular renovation. 

The work was completed in December 2025. It looks very smart again especially with its smart new finial on top of the cone ridge.
